Russia at the prestigious competition will be represented by a linguist from Novokuznetsk Anna Litvinova, who is fluent in English and French.
The 20-year-old Tara Elizabeth Conner, originally from the small town of Russell Springs in Kentucky, became the US representative at the world beauty pageant. Conner is a student, model, and waitress. She started participating in beauty contests when she was four years old when she won a prize at a local children’s contest. At age 13, she had already become a beauty queen among Russell County teens.
In the finale, Conner promised to appear in a low-necked iridescent pink dress with a lush hem from young designers Kane Gillespie and Robert Best, participants in the television project “Design:” Podium “, nominated for an Emmy fashion designers. Creating a dress specifically for the” American fashion symbol “, as the creators of the program called Conner, it was one of the tasks for the participants of the reality show.
In an interview, Miss Conner suggested that politics is not a matter for beauty queens. However, an incident on political grounds has already occurred at the current competition: Israeli representative Anastasia Entina refused to be photographed with Miss Lebanon.
The last time the Miss Universe finale was held in the USA in 1998 – in the Hawaiian Islands, in Honolulu. Last year, the most beautiful girl in the universe was chosen in Bangkok.
The final of the Miss Universe 2006 contest will be broadcast live by the American television channel NBC.
Los Angeles chooses the most beautiful woman in the universe
The most beautiful girls from 88 countries will take part in the Miss Universe 2006 beauty pageant, the finale of which will be held on Sunday in Los Angeles. The crown of the main beauty of the world will be awarded 55 times.

Anna Litvinova from Novokuznetsk will represent Russia at the competition. The Russian beauty is a linguist by education, fluent in English and French.
The winner will receive a crown worth about 250 thousand dollars. The crown, made of white gold, in shape resembles the feather of a phoenix bird, symbolizing the eternal beauty and strength of a woman. It is decorated with 800 diamonds and 120 pearls.
The Miss Universe crown will be handed over by the winner of last year – the representative of Canada of Russian origin Natalia Glebova.
Last year’s international beauty contest was held in Thailand. As a result, the crown went to Tuapse native Natalia Glebova, who has been living abroad for more than 10 years.
