The European Commission proposes the adoption of a single EU visa code
The European Commission approved and submitted to the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers of the European Union a proposal for the adoption by the EU member states of a single visa code.
As European Commissioner for Justice, Freedom and Security Franco Frattini told reporters in Brussels, the so-called “visa code” provides for uniform conditions and procedures for issuing visas for EU countries.
According to the press service of the European Commission, we are talking, in particular, about short-term and transit visas, as well as entry visas obtained at airports.
The European Commission believes that the adoption by the EU countries of a single “visa code” will be an effective tool in the fight against illegal immigration from third countries.
