Supermodel of the World 2006 became a Belarusian schoolgirl
In New York, they chose the most beautiful model of the world in 2006. The title “World Supermodel 2006” went to Ekaterina Damenkova, an 11th grade student from Minsk. During the struggle for the title of “most-most” in the annual competition, which is already the 25th time held by the American agency Ford Models, the representative of Belarus defeated rivals from 38 countries of the world. Russia was represented at the competition by a 16-year-old schoolgirl from Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Olesya Boslovyak.
As a reward for her victory, Katya will be given the opportunity to sign a quarter-million dollar annual contract with Ford Models. According to the Belarusian beauty, in the profession of fashion model, which she has mastered for a year and a half, she is most attracted to the opportunity to travel and communicate with new people, ITAR-TASS reports. At the competition “the competition was very serious, and it is even more pleasant that I won,” Katya said in an interview with reporters.
Other winners of the competition – girls from Canada, the Philippines, the Netherlands, the USA and Estonia – are guaranteed contracts for smaller amounts. The representative of Russia 16-year-old Olesya Boslovyak from Komsomolsk-on-Amur was not included in the number of winners. Olesya’s height is 181 cm, and the parameters are close to ideal – 85-61-88. She has been in the modeling business for two years, she has already worked in China, speaks English at a good level.
The Supermodel of the World competition is considered one of the most important springboards for beginner fashion models. The republics of the former Soviet Union presented models from Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania and Ukraine along with girls from Belarus, Russia and Estonia at the current beauty show.
According to the terms of the contest, girls from 14 to 20 years old, who are from 174 to 180 cm tall, can participate in the Supermodel of the World. According to the rules of the contest, candidates can either be novice models or have experience no more than two years. At the same time, representatives of Ford Models emphasize that candidates should be able to work around the world.
At one time, Ford Models gave the world such names as Sharon Stone, Brooke Shields, Kim Bessinger, Rene Russo, Susie Parker, etc. And now Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington are working in it.
In order to represent the country at Supermodel of the World, the candidate must first win the Supermodel contest in her country. The final Supermodel of Russia 2005 was held in Moscow on November 12.
It was attended by 20 girls from the regional modeling agencies of Vladimir, Naberezhnye Chelny, Irkutsk, Vladivostok, Pskov, Astrakhan, Anapa, Kaliningrad and others, who, in turn, were selected from 500 applicants. The title of “Vice-Supermodel of Russia 2005” was won by Evgeny Obukhov from Anapa.
Having won in Moscow, in addition to a ticket to New York, Olesya Boslovyak received a ticket to Japan from Aruji Continental, a necklace from Yu’Vill, a leather suit from Rossia, an evening dress from designer Olga Moiseenko as a prize.
The first model competition, organized by Ford Models, took place in September 1980 at the Monte Carlo Sports Club. Since the 90s, winners of national competitions from more than 50 countries have been participating in it.
By the way, the Russians have repeatedly won the title “Supermodel of the World.” For example, for the first time, a candidate from Russia won this competition in 1998. She became a 16-year-old schoolgirl from Cheboksary, Roza Muravyova. Two years later, her achievement was repeated by Rita Babin, a 14-year-old Russian woman from Kaliningrad – on December 5, 2000, in Puerto Rico, she was recognized as the “World Supermodel”.
In 2004, the competition was won by 19-year-old Ukrainian Natalya Gotsiy, who can still be found on the catwalks of almost all famous shows. In addition, she starred for Yves-Saint Lourant and even Japanese Vogue.
And last year, the title Supermodel of the World went to Brazilian Camila Finn. The second place was taken by a model from Romania Otilia Aionesi, and the third – Canadian girl Ingrid Shram. Russia in 2005 was represented by Maria Garmash, who, although she did not enter the top three winners, but after the competition received several invitations from well-known foreign agencies.
