EU citizens have the right to information
The European Commission intends to provide Europeans with more free access to documentation of EU institutions of power. Brussels receives about 4000 requests annually. The proposals voiced by the representative of the European Commission Mark Gray are based on facilitating access to information, not only for professionals, but also for ordinary residents of European countries: “Today, approximately 40% of requests come from lobbyists and law firms. Our goal is to ensure that ordinary citizens of the EU began to contact us more often. “
This, in particular, is about the documentation of the European Parliament, the European Commission and the European Council. The new rules, Brussels also specified, will apply to all kinds of electronic databases.
