NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg does not agree with the position of the Russian Federation regarding the expansion of the alliance.
“No, I don’t understand when people in Russia express the opinion that the expansion of NATO in Central and Eastern Europe is a provocation,” he said, giving a lecture at the University of Oxford.
Stoltenberg recalled that each country itself chooses its own path.
“This is not NATO expanding, but Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary themselves expressed their desire to join the alliance,” the Secretary General explained.

“Russia should relax and accept that the neighbors can choose their own path,” Stoltenberg said.
