Why do the Nashi study in UK?

The Nashi Youth Movement will send selected activists to study in the UK. As the British Telegraph writes on Friday, the organization itself will pay for studies at British universities. According to the publication, “several dozen” activists will study in the UK.

According to the newspaper, “a high level of education in the UK should help activists make Russia a world leader. ”The publication recalls that Nashi has actively pursued British Ambassador to Russia Anthony Brenton in recent months, with activists“ bordering on violence ” .

The British Embassy in Russia positively appreciated the intention of Nashi, noting that the British Council, whose branches were recently closed, was engaged in assistance in this area. “The British government supports young Russians who want to study in Britain. We are glad that” Ours “thus approve the activities of the British Council,” the embassy said.

Starting January 1, 2008, all regional offices of the British Council in Russia will be suspended. The implementation of ongoing projects will be frozen. Only the central office of the organization in Moscow can continue to work. As previously stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Mikhail Kamynin, all 15 regional branches of the British Council were opened illegally. The British side not only did not receive consent for the opening of these regional branches, but did not request. The British Council rejects allegations of violation of Russian law.

Last December, Nashi demanded the resignation of British Ambassador to Russia Anthony Brenton for supporting the opposition from Other Russia. With such a request, they turned to Queen Elizabeth II.

On December 5, about 50 activists lined up near the British Embassy in Moscow with placards “The Queen Must Know Where English Taxpayers Spend Money” and “Tony, You Are Unsuitable!” One of the activists held a portrait of Brenton with the stamp “Loser” in the forehead.

A letter was sent to her through the embassy’s security, beginning with the words: “Your Majesty, the collective of Russian friends of Great Britain writes to you.” In a letter to the queen, Nashi claims that Brenton “peculiarly disposed of a million pounds to support civil society in Russia.” Nashi claims the ambassador spent the money “on a very strange bunch of fascists, thieves, crooks and losers called Other Russia.”

At the British Embassy in Russia, the Nashi letter was called “huge absurdity.” “We do not support political parties and individuals in Russia. We have a number of programs for the development of civil society in Russia, which we implement in partnership with non-profit organizations. These programs, in particular, are aimed at developing the economy and freedom of speech. This work is absolutely it’s transparent, and all information about it is on the embassy’s website, “the embassy’s press service said.

According to British sources, several dozen “carefully selected activists” of the Nashi youth movement will go to expensive universities in English universities. Recall that this organization in Europe in general and in the UK in particular is assessed, to put it mildly, ambiguously: “stormtroopers”, “Putin’s gend” are far from the most odious labels that the local press affixes to it. The reason for this attitude towards pro-Kremlin youth is clear. She periodically breaks down various “March of Dissent”, “Orange Revolution” and upsets the British ambassador in Moscow with mass protests.

The secret of such “mutual love” lies in the sharp deterioration of relations between Great Britain and Russia in connection with the Litvinenko-Lugovoi case, as well as with espionage scandals. Rather, the whole fuss, according to the British side, flared up when Moscow refused to extradite Andrei Lugovoi, the main suspect in the poisoning of Alexander Litvinenko in London, to London. However, in the UK they forget that she spawned the grain of conflict herself, refusing to extradite to Russia the mafiosi of Boris Berezovsky, accused by the Russian side of financial crimes.

It got to the point that, according to the British side, the activists of Nashi seriously hindered the work of her ambassador in Moscow, meeting him with pickets with slogans offensive to the proud Englishman. The last reason for the Nashi’s attacks against Anthony Brenton was his lecture on democracy before political opponents of the current government. The ambassador himself regarded this as “psychological harassment on the verge of violence” and complained that the actions of pro-Kremlin youth are reflected in his wife and children. Indeed, Nashi activists have made the life of the English diplomatic envoy and his family a nightmare. It is possible that upon returning home he will need the help of a psychiatrist: Anthony Brenton has recently complained that he is being followed everywhere. And under such conditions, as you know, it’s easy to earn a migraine.

It is worth noting that a few dozen people for a hundred thousandth movement is not such a big figure. However, this is not important, but the very fact of the possible trip of the Nashist commissars. And it’s not even about the money, because the Kremlin always has a million or two dollars. It is important that such a decision was taken against the backdrop of pressure from the Russian authorities on the British Council, an organization that promotes the British education system abroad. In particular, its offices in St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg were closed. The English side takes it very painfully, considering it a reflection of diplomatic conflict.

What is the reason that the Nashi decided to learn from England despised by them? According to English sources, they recognize the fact that, compared to Great Britain, Russia is lagging behind in the knowledge and experience that is vital for its transformation into a world leader of the 21st century. British education is highly valued all over the world. The demand for graduates of British universities is huge. due to the high level of education, as well as the fact that it is controlled by the government. “

However, one wonders: is there really nothing better than English education in the world? After all, besides the British, there are universities in Germany and France that are not inferior to them. Yes, and what is so fundamentally new we can learn from the same British? After all, as you know, many of our diseases like Bolshevism or liberalism come from the West.

It seems that as a result of the closure of the branches of the British Council in Russia, one of his clients decided to continue their education abroad. At the same time, the British Embassy was very pleased with the news about the possible study of the Nashists. They say there: “Our government supports young Russians who want to study with us, because this is the core activity of the British Council in Russia. And we are very pleased that the Our movement seems to share its goals.” A similar sigh of relief from the British diplomats is clear: you look, maybe at least for the time of study at Oxford and Cambridge they will leave the embassy alone. And there, having gained knowledge in a “cultural country”, they may completely abandon their savage little things and ignite a fiery love for European civilization and Western democracy. Laughter, laughter, but history proves that even the most trusted people often turned out to be excessively avid for Western values. It is known that from a group of young people who went to study in Europe during the time of Boris Godunov, no one returned. Often there were “betrayals” and simply refusals to return to Soviet times.

In addition, events in our country are developing unpredictably. And the question automatically arises: are not those who today may go to the UK afraid that someday such training will not come back to him in the future?
