Ukraine won Eurovision 2016
The final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 was held in Stockholm. The Ukrainian singer Jamala won with the song “1944”, the second was Australian Demi Im with the song “Sound of Silence”. Russian performer Sergei Lazarev with the song “You Are The Only One” – in third place.
According to the results of the calculation of spectator votes and votes of the national jury, Ukraine won. Eurovision Song Contest 2017 will be held in Kiev.
The presenters of the Russian broadcast did not even broadcast the name of the winning song – “1944”.
After two semi-finals in the final race, representatives of 26 countries fought for the victory – 10 from each semi-final. And also Sweden as the winner of last year’s contest and the country of the “Big Five”. Today, artists from Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Great Britain, performed on the stage in Stockholm, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France.
After the participants of the contest, the famous American pop singer Justin Timberlake performed on the Eurovision stage.
According to the results of voting in the final of the international song contest “Eurovision-2016”, which took place in Stockholm, Ukraine became the winner, gaining a total of 534 points.
In 2016, new voting rules were introduced, which allowed to keep the intrigue to the last.
At first, speakers from different countries called points from a professional jury. According to their results, Ukraine, which was represented by Jamala with the song “1944”, took 2nd place, gaining 211 points. Australia took the first line – 320 points, the third France with 148 points.
The highest mark – 12 points – was given by 7 countries: San Marino, Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denmark, Moldova, Latvia, Israel, Serbia, Macedonia, Poland and Slovenia. Russia did not give Ukraine a single point.
Further, the contest leaders announced the results of the vote of viewers. According to them, Ukraine scored 323 points and took the second position.
However, in the sum of the results from the jury and the audience, Ukraine received 534 points and became the winner of Eurovision 2016.
