European Parliament calls for strengthening sanctions against Russia
The European Parliament calls on EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini to submit concrete proposals to strengthen the sanctions regime against Russia in connection with the shelling of civilians in Mariupol. This was stated during an emergency meeting of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament.
“The Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament called for the debate of EU diplomacy chairman Federica Mogherini at a meeting of foreign ministers on Thursday to provide concrete proposals on further restrictive measures against Russia in connection with the escalation of the situation in the Donbass and artillery shelling in Mariupol,” the European Parliament said.
During the discussion of this issue, many deputies spoke in favor of strengthening sanctions against the Russian Federation in the banking and financial sector.
