MTV Europe Music Awards prepares new debutants
New details of the upcoming MTV ceremony became known. An honorary EMA award will be given to artists from European countries that have a local MTV channel.
One of their main music ceremonies, the MTV Europe Music Awards 2008, will take place in the Beatles home in Liverpool. Scheduled for November 6, the festive event will be the most promising European music event of the year. So far, the organizers have not revealed all the cards, however, the other day, some details of the upcoming action became known.
In addition to the names of the nominees in nine categories, which were selected by viewers by voting, the hostess of the evening was announced. A young but already successful American singer Katy Perry will lead the MTV Award Ceremony. The single I kissed a Girl brought 24-year-old Californian fame and more than five million dollars from sales.
In addition to her debut performance as a host, Katy Perry is nominated in the “Best New Artist” category, and her kiss song, which has been at the top of the charts of 15 countries for seven weeks, will be waiting for the award in the nomination “Best Composition”.
In each of the nine categories, there are five performers, among which there are newcomers and completely “elderly” stars. Hollywood scandalous celebrity Britney Spears, who received three awards at a previous ceremony in the USA, is again nominated in three categories: “Best Artist of All Time”, “Artist of the Year” and “Album of the Year”.
The MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony is also notable for the fact that musicians from European countries are fighting for the prestigious award. So, for example, among the participants who appeared in the qualifying competition, Russia was represented by Dima Bilan, Sergey Lazarev, Nastya Zadorozhnaya, Timati and the BandEros group. Together with Bilan, the Israeli star Shiri Maimon, whose song in 2005 took fourth place in Eurovision, fell into the category “Best European Performer”.
