The largest NATO exercises in the region, Baltops-2017, have started in northern Poland and the adjacent Baltic Sea, with more than 40 ships from 14 countries participating.
Ships from Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Holland, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, Norway, Poland, England, Sweden and the USA will enter the ports of Szczecin and Swinoujscie on June 1 and 2, which will begin practical maneuvers at sea in three days. The main objective of the exercises is to coordinate the international operation.
Maneuvers will include search and counteraction to submarines, air defense, defense against attacks by other ships with support from air and land, as well as operations for mining and demining of the water area.
The exercises will last until June 18 and end in Cologne, Germany.
