Internet conquered the Old World

More and more Europeans today are on the Internet. According to a study by the Eurostat agency, in the first trimester of 2007, 15% of respondents regularly went online to make telephone calls. This is 6% more than in the same period of the previous year.

Internetization of the EU goes by leaps and bounds: if in 2000 only every fifth European had access to the World Wide Web, today half of the EU population actively uses the Internet – 54%. True, the indicators vary significantly from country to country: in the Netherlands, 83% of the population use the Internet, in Bulgaria – only 19%.

The study revealed the Internet’s most popular functions among today’s Europeans – e-mail, search engines, the ability to create your own web pages.
