The press of the Russian-language press ceased in Estonia

The last two printed newspapers in Russian are closing in Estonia, said the publisher AS Postimees Grupp. The Postimees newspaper was last published in Russian; readers will receive the last issue of the weekly Day after Day on October 1. The decision was made in connection with a decrease in readership and a decrease in advertising for these publications.

Instead of printed newspapers, the concern will focus on the development of Russian portals rus.postimees.ee, limon.ee and krasotka.ee.

“The tendency for readers and advertisers to go online is very fast in Estonian Russian media, so we plan to invest more in the development of Russian language news portals,” said AS Postimees Grupp Peep Kala, Chairman of the Board.

AS Postimees Grupp is part of the Eesti Meedia group operating in the three Baltic countries. The joint-stock company unites the oldest Estonian newspaper Postimees, a number of county newspapers and news portals.
