A number of major military maneuvers planned in Ukraine in 2017 will allow up to 3,000 troops from the United States and other NATO countries.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on January 19 approved the holding of military exercises in 2017 with the participation of NATO forces. For the bill on the approval of the relevant decision of President Petro Poroshenko, 236 out of 329 deputies who attended the meeting voted, the rest did not participate in the vote, according to the Rada’s website.
According to the accompanying documents to the bill, as part of the multinational training exercises for the armed forces of Ukraine, it is proposed to allow up to 3,000 troops of the United States and other NATO countries, as well as member states of the Partnership for Peace program with weapons and military equipment.
As part of the Sea Breeze 2017 exercises, up to 2,500 foreign soldiers with weapons and military equipment, up to 10 ships, up to five submarines, up to 10 aircraft and helicopters, and up to 60 units of wheeled vehicles will be allowed into Ukraine in July – September.
Up to 2,000 troops from the United States, other NATO countries and members of the Partnership for Peace program with weapons and military equipment, up to six aircraft, and up to 10 helicopters will come to Ukraine in June – November to attend Rapid Trident-2017 exercises.
