In Paris, activists of the Ukrainian Femen movement committed an act of vandalism, trying to destroy the wax statue of Russian President Vladimir Putin, exhibited at the Grévin Museum in Paris.
One of the activists, who appeared in the topless museum, threw the wax figure of the President of the Russian Federation onto the floor and thrust a stake into it, after which the policemen took her out of the building. The wax president’s head cracked from the blow.
The incident occurred a few hours before the arrival of Vladimir Putin at the ceremony dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the opening of the second front in Normandy. A “aspen stake” was inserted into the chest of the wax figure.
As Femen participants noted, the vampire hunter told the world “the only possible format for dialogue with the Kremlin Dracula.” According to Ukrainian activists, it was a symbolic action “against the legitimization of the Russian dictator by the leaders of world democracy.”
